Message to ABA: Some Judges Aren't Even Worth the Minimum Wage!

While the pay of federal judges has not actually been reduced, it has not kept pace with inflation, according to American Bar Association President Alfred P. Carlton, Jr.

"Federal judges have only been given four out of the last nine cost-of-living allowance increases that everybody else in the federal pay system has gotten," Carlton said.

The current salaries for federal judges range from $142,324 for magistrate and bankruptcy judges to $198,600 for the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, according to figures provided by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
